Jul 01, 2023EGF electric scooter ordinance ready to roll
Fans of electric scooters are one vote away from being able to ride the devices on city streets in East Grand Forks. The city council gave first reading last night to an ordinance allowing Bird Rides Inc. to roll into town.
City Attorney Ron Galstad says the draft ordinance allows riders to use the scooters on streets with a posted 30 mph speed limit. The devices would not be allowed on sidewalks.
Galstad says the current ordinance would limit the number of devices to 100. The scooters reach a max speed of 15 mph. They have been in use in Grand Forks since September of 2022.— — —
The East Grand Forks School Resource Officer program is good to go for the 2023-24 school year. The 65-35% split comes as the SRO spends approximately two-thirds of their time working in the school system.
